Five people were killed and 33 others injured in artillery shelling that targeted the city of Dilling. The attack was carried out by the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–Al-Hilu faction.
The bombardment struck the neighborhoods of Fraysh, Al-Marafid, and Al-Hilla Al-Jadida, causing civilian casualties as well as varying degrees of damage to homes and property. Medical facilities in the city received the wounded, some in critical condition, as healthcare workers continue to operate under extremely challenging circumstances.
In a statement, the Sudan Doctors Network condemned what it described as the systematic targeting of residential neighborhoods, calling it a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law that places innocent civilians at grave risk—particularly amid the use of heavy artillery in densely populated areas.
The network warned that the continuation of such tactics will further exacerbate civilian suffering and deepen the deterioration of humanitarian and health conditions in the city.
It held the Rapid Support Forces and the SPLM–Al-Hilu faction fully responsible for the deliberate shelling and called on the international community, as well as UN and human rights organizations, to take urgent action to pressure for an end to attacks on civilians and residential areas. The network also urged the provision of necessary protection for residents who had begun voluntarily returning following the lifting of the siege on the city, and called on the United Nations to press the leadership of the Rapid Support Forces and the SPLM faction responsible for these violations.
