Arrangements to Cultivate 20,000 Feddans of Cotton in the Gezira Scheme

Preliminary agreement has been reached between the Gezira Scheme and Al-Qimma Agricultural Development Company to cultivate 20,000 feddans of cotton in the southern sections of the project as part of preparations for the upcoming agricultural season. The partnership is valued at approximately $12 million to support the contract farming program with local farmers.
The agreement was discussed during a meeting between the Governor of the Gezira Scheme, Ibrahim Mustafa, and the Director of Al-Qimma Company, Amjad Al-Sir Al-Jilani, in the presence of several officials. The governor stressed the importance of adhering to the recommended planting and irrigation schedules, underscoring the need for an early launch of the program.
For its part, the company confirmed its readiness to enter the partnership, noting that a joint committee will be formed to begin implementing the program at an early stage.
