
The Ministry of Health received 26 tons of medicines and intravenous fluids from the World Health Organization on Friday, as part of preparations for the autumn emergency season and the response to dengue fever.
Dr. Al-Fadil Mohamed Mahmoud, Acting Director of the General Directorate of Health Emergencies and Epidemic Control, expressed appreciation to the World Health Organization for its efforts in combating epidemics, supporting those affected by the war and displaced populations, and providing medicines, equipment, and capacity-building for health personnel.
Dr. Al-Shibli Sohbani, WHO Representative in Sudan, praised the coordination with the Ministry of Health, confirming that the medicines will be distributed to the states according to the emergency directorate’s plan, and affirming the organization’s readiness to provide further support and training.
Dr. Al-Fadil also participated in a health sector coordination meeting in Port Sudan, commending the interventions of health partners that helped contain the cholera outbreak, and calling for intensified efforts to eliminate dengue fever and measles cases reported in some states.
