The Sudanese government, through its Permanent Mission in New York, formally lodged a complaint with the United Nations Security Council on Friday against the Ethiopian government, accusing it of allowing its territory to be used as a launching ground for attacks against Sudan and for targeting infrastructure and civilian objects.
According to a senior diplomatic source who spoke to the Al-Muhaqqiq news website, the complaint included evidence and a comprehensive dossier of facts and photographs demonstrating Ethiopia’s involvement in drone attacks against Sudan. These strikes targeted vital service facilities and projects that are exclusively civilian in nature, following the Ethiopian government’s alleged permission for the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia to use Ethiopian territory as a launchpad for drones against Sudan.
Earlier on Friday, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Muawiya Osman, directly accused Ethiopia of allowing its territory to be used to launch drones targeting Sudan. Speaking at a press conference, he stressed that Sudan reserved the right to respond to the aggression.
