Congress Party condemns RSF violations in Gezira

Sudan Events – Follow-ups

The Sudanese Congress Party – one of the most prominent components of the Freedom and Change Alliance, has strongly condemned the crimes and violations committed by the Rapid Support Militia in Gezira State – which it has been excusing for more than a week.
Last Monday, the Rapid Support militia, which has been fighting the Sudanese army since April 15, entered the city of Wad Madani, the capital of Gezira State, days after its attacks on the northern and eastern regions of the state, and committed many violations and crimes against civilians, resulting in the displacement of more than 300,000 people.
The Sudanese Congress Party said in a statement today (Sunday) that the violations of the Rapid Support Forces during and after their seizure of the city of Wad Madani and their invasion of a large number of villages in Gezira State and its other cities are still continuing in an escalating manner, as a result of which civilians and defenseless civilians are suffering greatly, as some have lost their lives.
It said lives, homes, property, and human dignity are being violated in a horrific manner that contradicts the pledges of these forces to protect civilians.
The party affirmed its strong condemnation of these heinous crimes committed by the Rapid Support in Wad Madani and the cities and villages of Gezira State, and held them fully accountable for these crimes committed and called on them to immediately end these violations.
It reaffirmed its principled position against all types of violations as a result of the war – in all parts of Sudan – that affect defenseless civilians and destroy infrastructure and public facilities, and against killing on the basis of regional affiliation, as well as the campaign of arrests of civilians by the security services, and it adhered to its position calling for investigating all violations and holding them accountable.
The party considered that the moral and ethical position is to urge the parties to end the war and not to push citizens to engage in it and increase military mobilization. It stressed that its goal and hope is to end the suffering of the people and protect the homeland from the reprehensible repercussions of the war.
It said that it would continue its efforts with the allies in the Forces of Freedom and Change and the Coordination of Civilian Democratic Forces (TAQADUM) to stop the cursed war, and called for unity behind this goal.
The Sudanese Congress renewed the call to raise the voice of wisdom and reason and take courageous decisions to end this bloody scene, and called on the international and regional community to put pressure on the two warring parties to provide safe passages and humanitarian aid in areas of military operations and displacement.
