Looming Food Crisis in Sudan

The Interventions and Programs Unit at the Technical Secretariat for Food Security revealed that 42% of the total population in Sudan suffers from food insecurity, amid expectations that the number will double during the coming period due to the war that has been raging since the 15th of April. Amira Abdul Rahim Al-Rawi, a member of the Federal Action Group for Interim Classification, said: For the food security situation, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture said that the analysis report of the Integrated Interim Classification of Food Security Situations in Sudan, which was adopted for the period (July to September 2023, which is the first period), showed that about 20.3 million people suffer from food shortages,

The third stage was described as (the worst), according to the Integrated Interim Classification, for the acute food security conditions for this period, compared to previous results, which took place in May 2022, where the number of people suffering from food insecurity doubled, due to the war.
