Finance Ministry to Support Kasala Programmes

The Minister of Finance and National Economy, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, pledged to support the efforts of the Kasala state in implementing its programmes.
These programmes include handling of the Gash River, the removal of the mesquite trees, and work to open the border crossings, as well as achieving benefit from the state’s agricultural production of horticultural and other crops, marketing them internally and externally, and doubling production.
The Minister called on Kasala state government to develop a clear plan for investment projects to attract post-war investors.
During his meeting with the Acting Governor of Kasala, Mohamed Musa, the minister appreciated the great efforts the state and citizens are exerting to alleviate the suffering of the displaced persons who arrived in the state.
He indicated that the projects adopted by the state government to increase revenues are considered worthy of consideration in light of the lack of federal resources.
For his part, the governor presented during the meeting a comprehensive report on the state’s role in receiving IDPs to the state in large and increasing numbers and the contribution of the local community and its solidarity with the IDPs.
The governor noted at the same time the impacts of the IDPs on the services provided.
He stressed the need to activate personal resources taxes and tightening charges collection to provide the necessary money to cover local services and development projects.
The Governor indicated that the state will focus its efforts on expanding the depositories horizontally and doubling efforts in collection, adding that the Ministry of Finance approved the state’s request to provide (16) vehicles that will be distributed to the ministries and the local government.
