Committees to Destroy Expired Commodities Activated

The Sea Ports Corporation decided to activate committees to destroy expired and activate the laws and regulations for commodities that do not conform to specifications.
Acting Director General of the Sea Ports Corporation and Chairman of the Advisory Council to Facilitate Import and Export Procedures at Sudanese Sea Ports, Dr. Essam El-Din Ismail, said:
The Council meeting discussed the effects of increasing the wages of shipping and unloading agencies on the work cycle and on exports and imports, in addition to ways to provide financial liquidity to customs clearers to pay the required obligations.
The meeting also discussed the operation of the truck weighing mechanism (Tarnata) of the Ports Corporation in the southern port of Port Sudan, and ensured the formation of a committee that includes all relevant parties to prepare a comprehensive memorandum to clarify the impact of the increase on the port work cycle and the movement of exports and imports and submit it to the competent authorities.
In addition to underscoring the current procedures followed in paying financial obligations among customs clearers and government units, in recognition of the country’s current circumstances, and the efforts of the Bank of Sudan to solve the problems with insuring the operation of (Taranta), the southern port, in coordination between customs and ports.
It is noteworthy that the Red Sea Customs Administration underscored that it supported and enhanced the competitive capabilities of the ports, achieved preferential advantages for Sudanese exports, and pushed the national economy forward.
