Sudanese Foreign Ministry threatens to leave (IGAD)
Khartoum – Sudan Events
The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs threatened to withdraw from IGAD if it did not respond to its request to change Kenya’s presidency of the Quartet.
In a press statement issued (Friday), the Ministry deplored that the statement of the meeting of the heads of state and government of the IGAD Quartet on Sudan in Nairobi on the sidelines of the African Climate Summit contained no reference to the government of Sudan and the need to consult with it and obtain its approval regarding the steps that IGAD intends to take regarding the crisis in Sudan. The Ministry considered it “a clear and unacceptable derogation of the sovereignty of Sudan.”
