Numerous Items at Table of Ministers of Health in Sudan and Egypt
Khartoum – Sudan Events
The Acting Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, met with his counterpart, the Egyptian Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, at the General Office of the Egyptian Ministry.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries in the health sector, in addition to a number of topics of common interest, most notably the current situation in Sudan, and ways to advance cooperation in the fields of training and capacity building, especially training and qualifying Sudanese medical personnel present in Egypt. This must be done in a way that enhances the health system’s ability to confront current challenges, in addition to coordinating the treatment of people with chronic diseases.
Ibrahim said that Sudan is looking forward to benefiting from the distinguished Egyptian experience in providing the pharmaceutical need through purchasing with coordination with the Purchasing Authority.
The Egyptian Minister committed to implementing all the recommendations of the meeting and facilitating all procedures for medical personnel, calling for the necessity of joint coordination to begin implementing the Egyptian-Qatari initiative due to the urgent need for it, in support of the health sector in Sudan. He explained the role of his ministries towards patients and working to provide health care since their entry through the crossing.
Abdel Ghaffar noted the agreement to expand training programs to include a number of precise specializations.
