The Italian Emergency Hospital is a military garrison of RSF militia

In another flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, the rebel Rapid Support militia on Thursday occupied the Italian eEmergency Hospital in the city of Nyala, South Darfur. Moreover, It arrested its medical staff, including doctors, nurses, and auxiliary staff, and forcibly evacuated the patients from the hospital, using it as a platform and military garrison for attack.
The Sudanese Foreign Ministry condemned the incident, considering it a flagrant violation of the Geneva Convention and its four protocols, and described it as a crime.
The Ministry called on the international community, especially international humanitarian organizations, to condemn these heinous acts, and to press for the immediate release of all medical staff detained by the militia, their immediate withdrawal from the hospital and to hold the militia accountable for this inhumane crime.
The Italian Emergency Hospital has been providing its services to citizens since 2020, providing various forms of critical medical care in Nyala, especially maternal health care, heart care and children, before the rebel militia turned the hospital today into a military garrison.
