UNITAMS Welcomes Renegotiation and Announces Support

The United Nations Integrated Mission to Support the Transitional Phase in Sudan (UNITAMS) announced that it welcomes the ongoing initiatives aimed at ending nearly seven months of simmering hostilities in Sudan.
In a statement on Sunday, the mission welcomed the resumption of talks between representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, facilitated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United States, the African Union, and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
The mission indicated that it will continue to work with international and regional actors – including the African Union and IGAD to support ongoing mediation efforts to reach a peaceful solution to the conflict in Sudan.
