Conditional Approval for RSF to Evacuate Citizens’ Homes
Jeddah – Sudan Events
Information received from the Saudi city of Jeddah indicated that indirect negotiations were continuing between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support (RSF) Militia.
On Tuesday, the mediation presented to the two parties the draft of general principles, cessation of hostilities, and the Joint Ceasefire Monitoring Centre to express their opinion on it and then agree on it.
There were reports that negotiations were proceeding vigorously with regard to the RSF evacuation of citizens’ homes and all civilian objects, and the evacuation of power and water stations from soldiers no later than the 30th of next November.
However, the RSF negotiating delegation returned and strongly adhered not to withdraw its checkpoints from the three cities of the Sudanese capital (Khartoum, Bahri and Omdurman) with the establishment of checkpoints at the entrances and bridges of the Sudanese capital to prevent any weapon supplies from entering to the army.
The RSF’s strong adherence to this point constituted an obstacle to the facilitators sponsoring the negotiation (the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United States of America, and the representative of the African Union and IGAD), despite the reluctance of the government army delegation and its reservations about the matter.
The SAF and the RSF Militia resumed negotiations to examine ways to end the war in the city of Jeddah last Thursday, after a pause that lasted for about three months, under Saudi-American sponsorship and with the participation of the African Union and IGAD.
