Darfur Governor Appeals RSF not to Attack Al Fashir and Al Genena

Sudan Events – Talal Ismail

Governor of Darfur, Minni Arko Minawi, appealed to the disbanded Rapid Support Forces (RSF) not to attack the cities of El Fasher and El Geneina in western Sudan.

Minawi said in his tweet, which was shown to Sudan Events: “We are in contact with all parties to avoid war in the city of AlFasher, due to the overcrowding caused by the large displacement, from Nyala, Kutum, Tawila, Kabkabiya and others from other cities, including Al Geneina, the artery and the only food supply to all Darfur, addition to the existing of camps before the new exodus.”

He continued: “A voice appeal to the Governor of North Darfur State was truly unsuccessful. He did not inform us the news of the attack, affirmed that it was received from the RSF. We also did not receive anything as well from the RSF despite our communication with them about that matter.”

Minawi added: “To the brothers in the RSF, I offer you valuable advice, with our full assurance that Al Fasher is not better than the rest of the cities of Sudan, and in particular, the cities of Darfur that have suffered. You must avoid attacking Al Fasher and AlGeneina, which are the cities in which there is a citizen on every inch that has suffered undeserved punishment of killing and displacement. As long as negotiations are ongoing in Jeddah, you must focus on negotiating.”
