Qatar Charity Conducts Improvements in Halfa and Argeen Camp

Sudan Events -Talal Muddathir

Qatar Charitable Organization, one of the largest non-governmental charitable bodies and works in the areas of sustainable development, fighting poverty and relief of those afflicted in emergency situations stated that it is conducting improvements to the temporary shelters that they built for the stranded and displaced in Halfa and the Argeen border crossing with the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The project includes the processing of a truck for two months to distribute drinking water to 2,500 people per month, the provision of chlorine tablets and water storage equipment for families, waste collection equipment as part of the environmental sanitation campaign and the creation of temporary toilets and units to wash hands with soap to reduce diseases resulting from the lack of water or the use of contaminated water.
For his part, Dr. Abdul Rahman Ali Khairi, the humanitarian assistance commissioner in the Northern State, praised the project, and called on Qatar Charity to search for sustainable solutions to the problems of water and sanitation that the city of Wadi Halfa suffers from. He confirmed that Qatar Charity was one of the first organisations to intervene through providing ready meals in the Ashkit and Argeen borders, as well as different shelters.
Many displaced people and travellers stranded in the city of Halfa and the Arqin crossing expressed their appreciation for Qatar Charity intervention to provide shelter and clean drinking water and implement hygiene campaigns after the wave of displacement led to a negative change in the host environment in the Northern State.
Qatar Charity had carried out a series of humanitarian interventions in favor of the displaced people in Sudan due to the war that erupted in mid -April between the Sudanese army (SAF) and the rebel rapid support (RSF) militia, and is currently working on implementing new health and food projects during the coming period.
