Sudanese Agricultural Bank: Arrangements with Al Gezira Scheme to finance 300,000 Acres of Wheat

The Agricultural Bank revealed financing the cultivation of wheat crops in Al Gezira Scheme in an area estimated at 300,000 acres. Work is underway to complete the arrangements with Al Gezira Scheme Management.

Deputy Director General of the Agricultural Bank, Dr. Ezz Eldeen Fageeri, said in press statements on Saturday that

the bank did not neglect to pay attention to the winter season, during which 1 million and 80 thousand acres are scheduled to be cultivated in Al Gezira, Halfa, Northern, Nile and White Nile states, stressing the seriousness of the Agricultural Bank in financing the winter season.

He added that the total financing amounted to 359 billion until the operations of cultivating wheat and other crops are completed.

Dr. Ezz Eldeen revealed that the current season, the proposed area was 47,000,000 acres, decreased by 37,000,000 acres, and the Agricultural Bank financed more than 9, 000,000 acres.

The Deputy Director of the Agricultural Bank called for the need to increase the capital of the Agricultural Bank so that it can meet the financing requirements of farmers. He called on the state to enter into strategic stocks to ward off risks and protect farmers from falling crop prices.
