Arrangements completed for cultivating large areas with wheat in Gezira Scheme

The Director of the Al-Huda Section in Gezira Scheme, Engineer Abdullah, has revealed that harvesting operations have begun early for the cotton and sorghum crops, indicating that both yielded high productivity, as the average production per fedan has reached 13 sacks of sorghum, while the average production per fedan of cotton reached stands at 16 quintals.
He pointed out during the committee supervising the Al-Huda section, stemming from the Higher Committee for Harvesting and Collection Follow-up in Gezira Scheme, today (Monday) has monitored the progress of harvesting operations for the summer crops in Wad Al-Zein inspection Station in the Al-Huda section and that it noted that the total area targeted for growing wheat for the winter season is estimated at about 36 thousand fedans. The committee supervising the Section listened to detailed reports from inspection inspectors about the progress of harvesting and collection operations and the obstacles faced, particularly in the field of irrigation which are related to accumulation of silt, weeds, as well as other issues related to transportations.
