Zanzibar Crowned CECAFA U-15 Champions

The Zanzibar national team was crowned champion of the East and Central Africa Cup (CECAFA) under 15 years after defeating its Ugandan counterpart, the host country, with kicks from the penalty mark area. The match’s official time ended with positive draw of one goal.
The island of Zanzibar, which won the title for the first time in its history, qualified at the expense of South Sudan national team on penalties as well, and it was the same one that awarded them the championship.
It is worth noting that the Sudanese national team announced withdrawal from the CECAFA U-15 Championship, complaining of lack of conducive climate to get ready for the championship. Sudan is currently in a war situation since April 15th 2023.
