Sudan Events – Rehab Abdullah
The Governor of the Gezira Scheme, Dr. Omar Marzouk, has rejected expectations by foreign organizations that Sudan would witness food crisis because of the ongoing war that broke in mid-April this year.
Dr. Marzouk argued in a statement to Sudan Events that Sudan would never go hungry, attributing this to the vast arable areas it enjoys and the good harvest forecast.
He said the project of which he is the director, alone cultivate some 350,000 fedans with sorghum, which is due to yield some 3,500,000 sacks of sorghum
He said plans are also finalized to cultivate 300,000 fedans of wheat during the winter season of the current year 2023.
