Khartoum Government Reveals Janjaweed Crimes

Sudan Event – Follow-ups

The local government of the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, provided official statistics on crimes committed by the Rapid Support militia (RSF) in the national capital of Sudan.
The report issued Thursday said that the population decreased to about two million six hundred thousand instead of ten million seven hundred and eighty thousand people, which was the population before the outbreak of war, as the rebel violations caused the displacement of about eight million and two hundred thousand citizens from their homes there.
The report added that the population before the war occupied about two million houses, and the residents of about one million five hundred thousand houses were forced to abandon them after the war, so that the number of inhabited houses declined to only about 457 thousand houses in the seven Khartoum localities.
As for citizens’ vehicles, the government report said that the number of cars licensed in the state before the war amounted to more than one million and one hundred thousand cars, and that the number of registered reports regarding stolen cars, about 29 thousand reports were received, indicating that this percentage represents only about 30% of the number of cars looted by RSF soldiers and the number of these cars was estimated at about 96 thousand cars
The monitoring did not include government vehicles owned by the armed forces, the General Intelligence Service, the police, diplomatic bodies, and international, regional and local organizations.
The intense fighting between the Sudanese army and the RSF since mid-April has led to widespread destruction of infrastructure, roads, bridges, and historical buildings, affecting most residential neighborhoods, markets, and industrial and economic facilities. Losses have been estimated at more than US$100 billion so far.
