The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Sudan said that the outbreak of cholera in nine states led to the death of 161 people, in addition to 5,178 suspected cases of cholera.
The office indicated on Monday that cholera vaccine had been provided to about 2.2 million people in the states of Gadarif and Gezira states, adding that the general stock of the vaccine was very low, indicating that Sudan had obtained approval to provide about 2.9 million doses of the oral vaccine to the states of Gadarif, Gezira and Khartoum, i.e. 35% of the general stock.
