Disbursing Cash Support to Poor in Sudan

The Executive Director of Al-Jabalin Locality in White Nile State Hussein Muhammad Al-Ragel has stressed the need for commissions and voluntary organizations in alleviating the suffering of poor families and providing humanitarian aid to expatriates and refugees.
This came when he met in his office today (Monday) with Imad Ahmed Qadim, Director of the Social Development Sector in the state, and Siddiq Abdulnabi, Director of the Poverty Reduction Commission in the state.
The delegation briefed the Executive Director on the direct social cash support program implemented by the Federal Poverty Reduction Commission in cooperation with the state’s social development sector and the savings bank, which targets 872 families.
The Executive Director said that Al-Jabalin locality is special and hosts large numbers of camps for refugees, displaced persons, arrivals, while others from the same groups are being hosted within families in the town.
Those hosted with families, which has put pressure on the services provided to people in the locality, require major intervention from humanitarian organizations.
For his part, Siddiq Abdul Nabi, Director of Poverty Reduction in the state, indicated that the direct cash social support project targets more than 872 families in Al-Jabalin locality, with its three administrative units, Kenana, Judah, and Al-Jabalin.
He explained that the program targets the poorest and families most-need, in addition to those with special needs, the disabled, and those with chronic diseases, and he called for the importance of adhering to exchange controls
