English court criticizes FIFA
Agencies – Sudan Events
An English court on Thursday criticized FIFA for presenting an offensive caricature of football agents.
In November 2019, FIFA presented a presentation depicting an agent holding a dollar sign above his head, a money bag in one hand, and banknotes in the other.
FIFA sought to impose maximum limits on agent fees in player transfer deals, which sparked legal disputes in a number of jurisdictions, including England.
A court found that, if implemented, this decision would constitute a violation of UK competition law.
The English Football Association announced the court’s ruling on November 30, but the full reasons were not published until Thursday.
