IGAD: Sudan Continuing Conflicts Endanger Civilians

Sudan Events – Follow-ups

The Intergovernmental Authority for Development (IGAD) renewed its call on both the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to respond to the appeal made by 41st Extraordinary Summit of IGAD to cease hostilities and resolve their conflict through dialogue.
In his statements today, Sunday, IGSAD Executive Secretary, Workneh Gebehu, expressed his concern about the conflict in the states of Gezira and Al-Fasher in Sudan. He said the conflict there endangers lives and hinders the search for lasting peace.
Madani, the capital of Gezira State – central Sudan, and Al-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, witnessed clashes between the government army and the RSF militia on Friday and Saturday, amid international concern about the expansion of the fighting to other areas of the Sudan.
