IOM: 300,000 fled from Madani
Sudan Event/Follow-ups
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said Monday evening that up to 300,000 people have fled fighting on a new front in Sudan’s war.
The city of Wad Madani, the capital of the Gezira state in central Sudan, which was previously considered a safe resort, has become a scene of fighting in a new front of the war in Sudan.
The advance of the Rapid Support militia towards the city of Madani, which was captured yesterday, Monday, forced hundreds of thousands of people to flee.
The militia set up checkpoints throughout the city and looted homes and cars without an army or police presence.
