Expert Warns against War Extending

Sudan Events – Nahid Oshi

Economist Dr. Awadallah Musa warned against the expansion of fighting and the long duration of the fighting, which doubles the bill of war.
He said in a statement to Sudan Events that the ongoing war has an impact on the economy, people’s livelihood, and lifestyle, and its expansion doubled the economic impacts, as the intensity of inflation rose, the demand for the currency increased, and the value of the dollar against the pound rose.
He noted that the movements of imports increased, while the movements of exports became almost non-existent.
He added that citizens are facing a real suffering in their daily life activities and securing the daily requirements and business, as the unemployment rate soared significantly, and all the displaced people from Khartoum to the different states lost their jobs and businesses, and thus the production capacity stopped and the commercial movement was affected, and what is happening in Gezira State doubles the economic and commercial impacts, particularly as Madani was another capital with the city of Port Sudan, and the fighting spread to it, and a large number of people displaced from it to other states. Therefore, he stressed, there will be an impact in the states of Sinnar, White Nile, and the rest of the states that benefit from Madani, and the impact will be great, particularly since the state of Gezira is the “lung” of all of Sudan in its various products, particularly Sinnar and the White Nile, and their main outlet is Gezira State
