Nottingham Forest deepened the wounds of its host Newcastle and inflicted on it its eighth loss this season with a score of 3-1 in the opening of the 19th round of the English Football League on Tuesday.

Nottingham Forest owes its victory to its New Zealand international player Chris Wood (32 years old), who scored his team’s three goals in the 45+1, 53 and 60 minutes against his former team, Newcastle, from which he moved last summer.

Swedish striker Alexander Isak scored Newcastle’s only goal from a penalty kick in the 23rd minute.

Newcastle remained without a win in the last three matches in all competitions, noting that they suffered losses five times in their last seven matches.

Newcastle’s record, fourth in the league last season, stagnated at 29 points in seventh place, with a high probability of ending the stage with a greater decline, given the possibility of being surpassed by Manchester United, eighth (28), and Brighton, ninth (27).
