Sudan’s War Caused Hikes in Rentals

Sudan Events – Nahid Oshi

Sudanese residents in Egypt are complaining about the high rates in rents for furnished and unfurnished apartments (tiles), as the rates have reached several times what they used to be prior to the war situation in the Sudan, particularly for unfurnished apartments, as the Sudanese prefer to buy apartment furniture, realizing the lower prices in the marketplaces, compared to furnished ones.

The price of furnished apartments in Faisal City reached between 8 and 10 thousand Egyptian pounds,a month, and unfurnished ones ranged between 3 and 4,500 Egyptian pounds, depending on the number of rooms. Prices increased in other cities (Mohandessin, Al-Rehab, Nasr City, Maadi, Zamalek), and the rents of some apartments reached 40,000 pounds, as the prices of vegetables and fruits have witnessed a noticeable increase amid expectations that seasonal fruits will decrease with the onset of winter
