Burhan –Taqaddum Meeting: Official and Popular Reservation
Report / Sudan Events
There were continuing reactions denouncing the movements of the Civil Democratic Forces Coordination (Taqaddum) led by former Sudanese Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdouk, which he initiated after the outbreak of war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces(RSF) in mid-April under the umbrella of the Freedom and Change Alliance, in an attempt to impose a solution through tours in the African and Arab world. Finally, it seeks to market its recent agreement with the commander of the RSF Militia by holding a meeting with the President of the Sovereign Council, Army Commander Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan.
Hamdouk sent a letter to Al-Burhan urging him to accept the invitation to meet to discuss stopping the war, but the government did not officially respond to the invitation despite the Vice President of the Sovereign Council being surprised to talk about it, and a number of sectors also denounced it.
Official denunciation
Taqaddum’s movements, which deal with the Sudanese scene as if they still represent the people and the government, have remained the subject of denunciation and disapproval, given that they do not represent a recognized political body. This is what was expressed by the Vice President of the Sovereign Council, Malik Agar Ayer, when he said in a statement yesterday (Wednesday), they are not aware of a meeting between Taqaddum and the Sudanese government.
He confirmed that they had not received an invitation to hold the meeting and said, “We only heard about it as everyone else heard.” He added: “We do not know what (Taqaddum) is. Is it a political body? We do not know that.”
Aqar considered that what the Rapid Support Commander signed with Taqaddum was an agreement between two partners. He said that what happened was an agreement between partners, “as Taqaddum and RSF are two partners, and they are one body in two entities, and there is nothing new about that.”
Agar described the signatories of the Addis Ababa Declaration as the well-known political incubator of RSF, and they are supportive of its rebellion.
In this context, news sites quoted a source in Sovereign Council confirming that he refused to sit with the Taqaddum Coordination Committee after it placed its hand in the hands of the militia.
Rejection case
Although the spokesman for Freedom and Change (FFC), Jaafar Hassan, confirmed last week that Taqaddum had presented an invitation to Al-Burhan to hold a joint meeting regarding stopping the war and that he agreed in principle, but Agar statement denied this, and this was accompanied by a state of denunciation and general rejection of the manner in which the meeting was conducted. The Coordination Committee and the commander of the RSF Militia in Addis Ababa, and the coordination attempt to impose its visions on the army commander and the Sudanese people.
In a statement, the head of the Sudan Liberation Movement, Mustafa Tambour, stressed that the Sudanese will not again accept members of the FFC who wish to return to power through the ladder of the RSF Militia, “completely ignoring the extent of the crimes they committed against the Sudanese people,” and stressed that the arming campaigns will continue until the end.
The Sudanese pages on the (X) platform and other social networking sites witnessed intense controversy among those commenting on the request by Taqaddum to Al-Burhan to meet with the leader of the rebellion, and many of Taqaddum members without shame met (Hemedti) and laughed with him as if nothing had happened.
They considered Taqaddum’s request to meet with Al-Burhan “a kind of insolence,” as if they were saying that whoever wanted to stop the war should sit with them, which is evidence that they and the militia are one thing, and they went on to ask Al-Burhan not to respond to Taqaddum’s request.
For its part, the Future Movement for Reform and Development considered that Taqaddum’s sitting with the militia evidence of the existence of a conspiracy in which both sides are a military faction and a civilian faction with a master, in order to achieve political gains. It stressed that the correct approach to resolving the crisis is to implement the Jeddah Declaration of May 11 and reject any attempt to jump over it.
