The Ministry of Immigration in Egypt has alerted all Egyptian students pursuing their studies at universities in Sudan against heading again to conflict areas there, for their safety.
The Ministry stated, in a statement issued on Sunday, that “it was recently observed that many Egyptian students studying in Sudan, who were evacuated at the start of military operations, have now returned to Sudan seeking to complete study documents, and some of them have even continued their study there and returned to their university .
The ministry added that “with the warring parties intensifying their military operations in the states” where the universities are located, “the Ministry of State for Immigration and Affairs of Egyptians Abroad received a number of requests for help from families to help their sons return” to Egypt once again
The Ministry added, “In this context, the Ministry of Immigration calls on all Egyptian students in Sudan not to go to these areas again, for their own safety.”
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Egypt had announced the evacuation of a number of Egyptian students and a number of their parents stranded in the city of Wad Medani, the capital of Gezira State, to which armed clashes recently spread, in December, after ensuring their safe arrival to the headquarters of the Egyptian Consulate in Port Sudan (east), then they were transported across the border to Egyptian territory in coordination with the Sudanese authorities.
