Expert: Tighten State’s Grip on Gold
Sudan Events – Nahid Oshi
Economist Dr. Abdullah Al-Ramadi has called for imposing state control and a tight grip on all the country’s resources, particularly gold, which he considered a national wealth that must be firmly protected.
In a statement to Sudan Events, the economist has described what is happening in the private mining sector as “chaos” and said that there should be state representation and a presence in every site for the private production of gold, so that not a single gram goes to the market before passing through a government institution.
He stressed: we should take care of it and not leave it random and private, but rather it should be supervised, the government must determine the price for sale, adding that the government must act in selling gold externally with the presence of internationally accepted and recognized purification laboratories in a way that raises the value of the gold product.
He argued that gold is available in every Sudanese state, countrywide.
