Displaced families Covered by Health Insurance

The Blue Nile Health Insurance Administration has brought one hundred thousand returnees and displaced people families under the umbrella of health insurance at the initiative of the Commission for Displaced Persons and Refugees, international organizations, United Nations agencies, and regional and national organizations.

Director of the Health Insurance Department in the region, Dr. Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Awad, said that the project will continue for a year, starting from this January until January 2025, at a cost of five thousand pounds a monthly subscription for the family, equivalent to 6.5 dollars.

Al-Siddiq reviewed the estimated efforts to ensure the continuity of providing health services to the targeted people in light of the current circumstances by restoring a number of direct and indirect health centers, especially hospitals, appreciating the efforts of the regional government, particularly the Ministry of Health, represented in the Medical Supplies Department, and its cooperation that led to the success of the project.

He revealed plans by the Health Insurance Administration to accommodate returnees and displaced persons under the umbrella of Health insurance in their areas of presence, pointing out that his administration gives priority in providing health services to the targeted returnees, displaced people, and rural citizens in treating chronic diseases, primary and secondary health.

He further praised the strong partnership with the Commission for Displaced Persons and Refugees in light of health protection and organizations.

The Commissioner for Displaced Persons and Refugees in the region, Hashim Orta, explained that the returnees and displaced persons represent a priority in light of the current situation from the standpoint of humanitarian work, which requires the collaboration of all those concerned with humanitarian work.

He called for the need for active participation in resolving this issue, indicating that the Commission has briefed a number of relevant institutions at the center level and the region to find a partnership that supports the project.

The commissioner further explained the steps and measures for conducting surveys to cover all the targeted people according to a specific timetable, appreciating the interest of the Ministry of Health in providing medicines to the targeted people, calling for accelerating the pace to cover this important sector with the necessary and important medical treatments.

Dr. Thuraya Abbas, Director of the Health Services Department at Health Insurance, explained that the department covered more than 80% of those targeted in the region, addressing the partnership with the Commission, those targeted by the project, primary and secondary services, and chronic diseases that will be provided to the targeted people as well as the procedures thereof.
