Khartoum State has inaugurated the rehabilitation work on the West Nile Avenue in Karari, linking it with River Nile State, a partnership between the state and the National Authority for Roads and Bridges.
The Governor of Khartoum, Ahmed Osman Hamza, stressed the importance and vitality of this cross-state road and represents the lifeline of the state. Therefore, it is among the priorities at the present time, as large numbers of vehicles and buses pass by it, calling on the Roads Authority & Bridges to mobilize all its resources and communicate with the National Authority for Roads and Bridges to complete the work as planned.
Engineer Mukhtar Omer Saber, Director of the Roads, Bridges and Drains Authority, explained that the rehabilitation work targets areas affected by cracks that impede traffic movement and may result in serious road accidents. He said the first phase requires a thousand tons of asphalt and starts from the Military College to Al-Hugna area. These works will have a great impact in facilitating traffic and reducing suffering. The work in the first phase will be completed within fifteen days, and the second phase will begin immediately after that with a complete asphalt layer.
