A historic Event Awaits Yamashita in the Asian Cup

The Asian Football Confederation confirmed, Thursday evening, that Japanese Yoshimi Yamashita will officiate a match in the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar, between Australia and India on January 13, 2024, thus becoming the first woman to officiate a match in the history of the tournament.
Yamashita is considered the first professional female referee from Japan to receive the FIFA badge in 2015, and she was the first woman to officiate a Japanese League match in September 2022.
In particular, she was one of 6 female referees selected for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Yamashita was the main referee for the opening match of the Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023, where she officiated two matches after that and served as the fourth official in two matches as well.
