Al-Manara Water Station Resumes Operation

The Khartoum Water Corporation has announced the resumption of Al-Manara water station operation and the arrival of water to many parts of its coverage areas (Al-Hattana, Al-Wahah, and some of the Al-Thawra Al-Sharqiya, Wad Al-Bakhit, and Al-Manara neighborhoods) after intensive efforts to deliver purification materials to the station, which the rebel militia’s attack on Medani prevented them from arriving at the specified time and with the help of imported supplies from Port Sudan.
The Governor of Khartoum, Ahmed Osman Hamza, praised the patience of the citizens who suffered in searching for water, pointing to the efforts made by the state in operating wells and providing water through tankers.
The director of the Khartoum State Water Corporation, Engineer Mohammed Ali Al-Ajab, attributed the causes of the Al-Manara water crisis to the entry of rebel forces into Medani City, that led to a water s shortage for several days, which forced the Corporation to clear the shipment of purification materials located in Port Sudan, and it has now begun to arrive successively by air and land, totaling 480 barrels.
The Director of the Al-Manara station said that they are making every effort to operate the station at its maximum capacity with 6 pumps to fill the pumping tank in Al-Harah 52 and feed the pumping station in Al-Qamaer. He expected it to enter all areas gradually because the high pumping may cause explosions in the network, which is completely devoid of water, and water will be completed in all areas within 72 hours, and the phenomenon of queuing and water being carried by barrels will disappear.
