Economist: We Should First ex-1000 Denomination

Economist Dr. Haitham Fathi commended the release of a new one-thousand-pound denomination by Central Bank of Sudan, which is signed by the current governor, Bura’i Siddiq Ali, who succeeded former governor, Hussein Yahya Janqoul.
However, Haitham Fathi in a statement to (Sudan Events) said that it would have been better to cancel the former edition of the thousand-pound denomination and adopt the new one, and this was justified on the grounds that this measure would have made all the currency that was stolen and looted during the period of war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Militia on April 15, 2023, worthless.
He said this is all the more valid, particularly as the currencies are priced usually between zero and 100 pounds, and few currencies are priced in the thousands, Haitham Fathi wondered if the process of approving the new governor’s signature was accompanied by clear monetary plans and reforms.
Sudan Events indicates that the one-thousand-pound denomination was printed in August 2023, and the Central Bank of Sudan has underscored the validity of all previous editions and issuances of the one-thousand-pound denomination.
