River Nile: Cholera Cases Reported

The Director General of the Ministry of Health in River Nile State, Dr. Amal Ahmed Majzoub, announced that eight cases of cholera have been diagnosed in Atbara and Al-Damar towns.
She said in a statement reported by the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) today (Monday), that her ministry began preparing an emergency plan for rapid interventions through which a rapid response team was sent to the Sidon area with the aim of carrying out further investigation and diagnosis for suspected cases.
Dr. Amal explained that the team opened an isolation center to treat cases and confine the epidemic within the area to prevent its spread and cut the cycle of transmission.
She indicated that the Emergency Operations Center has been in continuous meetings since Saturday to follow up the health situation in the state, and noted a number of recommendations that required sending a medical and health team to Sidon area.
Dr. Amal appealed the organizations working in the field of health to work on rapid intervention in full coordination with the relevant departments and to activate the role of the community to participate in limiting the spread of the epidemic and raising health awareness through various media.
