Palestine Coach Demands ‘focus’ for First Asian Cup Win

Qatar – Sudan Events

Tunisian Makram Daboub, coach of the Palestine national team, asked his players to be “fully focused” during the match against the UAE on Thursday in the Asian Football Cup currently being held in Qatar.

Daboub said in the press conference dedicated to the match on Wednesday, “It was difficult to control their emotions” in the opening match, but he pledged to prepare well to face the UAE. “In the previous match, the focus at the beginning of the match was not what we wanted.”

He added, “No coach wants the scenario we faced against Iran, but the match against the UAE is different because we have the same opportunities and it is important for us to get the three points.”

The Palestinian team conceded a quick Iranian goal just 64 seconds after the start of the first match, before losing 1-4. Daboub admitted that the reason for this was because his players were “very excited.”

This match coincided with the 100th day of the war between Israel and Hamas, which gave the event additional importance that went beyond just a football match.
