Sudanese Ports: Redressing Merchandise Violations

The Acting Minister of Trade and Supply, Al-Fatih Abdullah Yusuf, has issued a decision on addressing the violations of merchandise arriving at Sudanese ports, in relation to the circumstances that the country is witnessing, which led to the amassing of goods in large quantities that affected the flow of movement of goods in the ports.
The minister pointed out in his decision that after reviewing the report of the Committee for Redressing Violations of Goods Arriving at Sudanese Ports, it was decided that goods and commodities that violate import procedures and arrival at Sudanese ports will be cleared according to bills of lading until the date of 10/02/2024 as the final date for processing.
It stipulated that commodities and goods that were shipped with bills of lading on or before 10/01/2024 and have not yet arrived at Sudanese ports will be cleared within one month from the date of their arrival at the ports, provided that processing is completed in (1) and (2) by imposing a fine and settlement according to the type, quantity and value of the commodity or goods after the approval of the Ministry of Commerce and Supply.
The decision directed the relevant authorities (the Sudanese Customs Forces – the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization (SSMO) – and other relevant authorities) to put the decision into effect.
