Palestine national team secured the qualification ticket to the round of 16 of the Asian Cup for the first time in its history, after defeating Hong Kong with a score of (3-0), today, Tuesday, in the final round of the Asian Cup group stage.
The Palestine national team scored a hat-trick: Uday Al-Dabbagh “two goals” in the 12th and 60th minutes, and Zaid Qanbar in the 48th minute.
With this victory, the standings of Group C become: Iran is in the lead with 9 points, the UAE is second with 4 points, on goal difference from Palestine, which is in third place with the same score of 4 points, and Hong Kong is at the bottom without any point.
Qualification was almost lost to the Palestine team due to a penalty kick awarded to Hong Kong in the 90th + 8th minute, but the crossbar prevented the ball from entering the Palestinian net.
It is noteworthy that the Iranian national team defeated the Emirates (2-1), scored by Mehdi Taremi in the 26th and 65th minutes, while Yahya Al-Ghassani scored Al-Abyad’s only goal..
