Egypt: Dollar Jumps by 100% in Egyptian Market

The price of the dollar in the black market has continued its climb against the Egyptian pound today, Thursday, due to increased speculation and a shortage in the supply of foreign currencies.

The rate of the dollar rose against the Egyptian pound by about 3 pounds during today’s transactions, going up to 63 pounds, compared to 60 and 61 pounds during last week’s transactions, widening the gap between the official and parallel rates by more than 100%, as the price in official banks did not exceed 30.75 pounds for purchase, and 30.85 pounds, for sale, while the price of the British pound has scored 38.98 pounds for purchasing and 39.40 pounds for sale.

The rate of the Saudi riyal reached 8.19 pounds to buy and 8.22 pounds for sale, while the price of the Kuwaiti dinar reached 99.32 pounds to purchase 100.35 pounds for sale.

The price of the Emirati dirham reached 8.38 pounds to buy and 8.39 pounds for sale and the rate of the Qatari riyal reached 7.80 pounds to purchase and 8.46 pounds for sale.

The Kuwaiti dinar recorded 220.3 Egyptian pounds in the parallel market, and the euro exchange rate reached 72.4 Egyptian pounds.
