Musaed Mohammed, Director of the African Center for Peace and Justice, has confirmed the information circulated about markets for the captivity, sale of women and girls, and sexual slavery in (Khor Jahannam- Arabic for Creek of Hell) in Darfur,are true
He added that the current war is being fought over women’s bodies in western, northern and central Sudan.
He said in press statements that the victims have been kidnapped from war areas in northern Sudan to Darfur by the Rapid Support militia (RSF).
He confirmed that the Center published a study accompanied by evidence and interviews with 45 victims, witnesses, and families of survivors and victims, regarding some women and girls from northern Sudan who were brought to Darfur. He stressed that the Center documented a large number of violations represented in sexual slavery; harassment, rape, and kidnapping that were practiced on a large scale.
