The Acting Governor of Kasala, Mohammad Musa Abdul Rahman, has stressed the need to accelerate the completion of maintenance operations in Kasala Airport and getting it ready for receiving air traffic for internal and external flights.

During his visit to the airport, the governor, accompanied by the state police director, Major General Police Dr. Sufyan Abdul Wahab, and a number of police authorities concerned with operating the airport, stressed the great importance and growing role Kasala Airport is to play in the country’s air traffic, given that Kasala Airport is the second airport after the Red Sea State Airport in air traffic in the country.
He pointed to the various understandings reached recently with the Director of Airports and the coordination requirements to activate the airport’s role.
He reviewed the visions anticipated from the airport, especially regarding the movement of export and foreign trade as well as opening the door to investment, which requires preparing the airport in a proper manner, in addition to making the necessary arrangements to be able to provide the needs that complete the role of the airport, including the establishment of customs hangars, terminals, and the movement of domestic buses.
Airport Director Saif El-Din Ahmed Hamid has meanwhile provided a comprehensive briefing on the work requirements for rehabilitating the airport, whether at the level of expanding the runway, aviation safety requirements, and how to start and operate the airport, where work was halted due to the war.
He noted the possibility of the airport receiving small planes to transport passengers at the present time internally, to be followed by receiving international flights after maintenance, depending on the model.
He explained that the airport will operate flights for pilgrims to the Holy lands, which means accelerating maintenance operations at the airport.
