The Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Livestock, Dr. Hassan Al-Toum Abdullah, has revealed that the ministry was subjected to systematic destruction and vandalism as a result of the war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Militia last April, inflicted huge damage and losses on the ministry and its assets and buildings
The Minister explained during his meeting (Sunday) in Port Sudan with the Resident Director of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Sudan, Hongji Yang, that the destruction affected all infrastructure and fields, especially the poultry and animal health sector, but he confirmed the normal flow of exports as the meeting touched on genetic improvement in animals, The FAO official was briefed on the state plans to protect the herd.
For his part, the FAO Resident Director pledged to provide the necessary vaccines to protect the national herd from diseases.
