For his part, Ahmed Hossam Mido, the former Egyptian national team player, said: “The football system in Egypt is corrupt… We do not deserve better than what happened… The scapegoat policy will not fix anything… Egypt needs a revolution in football.”

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian team exited the African Cup of Nations in the quarter-finals after losing on penalties to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Egyptian goalkeeper Mohamed Abu Jabal missed a decisive penalty kick, causing the loss and leaving the “Pharaohs” out of the African Cup of Nations in the round of 16.
