Doha – Sudan Events

The Jordanian national team ousted its Iraqi counterpart from the quarter-finals of the 18th edition of the Asian Nations Cup finals, after defeating them (3-2) in the “Arab derby” that brought them together today, Monday.

Jordanian striker Yazan Al-Naimat opened the scoring for Al-Nashama in added time in the first half.

Iraq’s “Lions of Mesopotamia” responded with two consecutive goals, the first through defender Saad Natiq Naji in the 68th minute, and the second through striker Ayman Hussein in the 76th minute, before he received the second yellow card due to his disgraceful way of celebrating, and left the field expelled.

The “Nashami” team responded with two goals in stoppage time of the match, through players Yazan Al-Arab and Nizar Al-Rashdan, respectively.

The Jordanian national team will be on a date in the quarter-finals with the surprise team of Tajikistan, which ousted its Emirati counterpart, beating them on penalties (5-3) after they tied (1-1) in the match that brought them together yesterday evening, Sunday, at the Ahmed Bin Ali World Cup Stadium.
