Asian Cup: Qatar Breaks Total Attendance Record

The 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar made history by breaking the record in attendance, which reached more than one million people.

The tournament organizing committee announced the record crowd attendance following the match between Qatar and Palestine in the round of sixteen of the Asian Championship, which continues to attract crowds of fans with a number of matches remaining until the end of the tournament.

The eighteenth edition of the continental event in Qatar witnessed the arrival of large crowds from all over Asia to support their country’s national teams and their favorite teams. The opening match between Qatar, the defending champion, the representative of the host country and the Lebanese national team, which was held at Lusail Stadium, recorded a record attendance of 82,490 fans. Al-Jassim added: Qatar once again confirms its leading position as an attractive center and capital of global sports. Our modern infrastructure and extensive operational experience prove that we are capable of organizing tournaments according to the highest approved standards, which are easily accessible to all categories of fans, taking into account the interactive cultural aspect through a program full of activities that enrich the fans’ experience.

He continued: We are pleased to achieve records early in the tournament. With a number of matches remaining on the competition schedule, we expect more exceptional results, especially with the impressive levels of performance provided by the participating teams.

The continental tournament also broke records in terms of digital interaction, becoming one of the most popular topics among fans across cyberspace. During the group stage, the accounts of the local organizing committee of the tournament on social media received 689 million impressions and 5 million engagements, in addition to 208 million views of video clips, which constitutes the highest level of interaction achieved by the Asian Championship in its history.
