The Japanese national team qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2023 Asian Cup after defeating the Bahraini national team 3-1 in the round of 16.

Ritsu Doan scored Japan’s first goal in the 31st minute, Takefusu Kubo added a second goal for Japan in the 49th minute, before Japan’s Zion Suzuki scored an own goal in the 64th minute, reducing the gap in favor of Bahrain.

Ayase Ueda fired the coup de grâce on the “Red” by scoring Japan’s third goal in the 72nd minute.

The Japanese national team is scheduled to play with the winner of the match between Syria and Iran in the quarter-finals.
