MTN , sudani out of Service by the RSF

Khartoum – Sudan Events

A communications expert and former official at the Sudanese Communications Authority affirmed the veracity of the news that MTN and Sudani received orders to shut down the communications service from Rapid Support RSF .
The expert – who requested to remain anonymous – expected that the Kuwaiti company Zain, the largest operator in Sudan, would join them.
The expert said that this escalation by the RSF represents dangerous development in the course of the war and clear violation of human rights that will pay the attention of human rights organizations in the world, .
The expert revealed that the root of the problem was due to the disability of Sudatel to repair the defect in the fiber-optic network, that made many states in Darfur out of communications service.
He said that the mobile telephone service operators Sudani, Zain and MTN depend on this network to deliver service to the Darfur regions. He added: “The Rapid Support Forces RSF which control the areas where the main servers of these companies are located, have ordered the cessation of service to all subscribers in all of Sudan, whose number is estimated at more than 36 million, due to the inability of Sudatel to maintain the cable transmitting to Darfur due to the war conditions.” The communications expert said. The problems go beyond the interruption of communications and Internet service to affect banking applications, and randomly shutting down or sabotaging the main servers makes it difficult to restart the process again, and this may cause Sudan to be completely cut off from the world for a very long period, particularly since communications engineers have been making great efforts during the past period was in the midst of very great risks and difficulties on the ground that made it difficult to reach some areas and cities. He concluded by saying: “
The step of shutting down communications threatens the future of foreign investments in Sudan, and sends negative messages to the countries of South Africa and Kuwait, which are countries that have been providing support to Sudan and standing in the line of peace.” And the interest of the Sudanese citizen.”
