2023 Africa Cup of Nations refused to smile at a new champion in this edition after the exit of all the teams that had not won this title before, the most recent of which were Cape Verde, Mali and Guinea.
The quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, currently being held in Côte d’Ivoire, witnessed the elimination of the trio of Cape Verde, Mali and Guinea from this round at the hands of South Africa, Côte d’Ivoire and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Nigeria, which has won three titles, Côte d’Ivoire, which also holds three titles, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire), which has succeeded in winning the title twice before, and finally, South Africa, which has succeeded in holding the title once in its history, qualified for the semi-finals.
